Carpenters have the ability to understand projects and execute them successfully through oral/written instructions and/or though provided project architectural plans. The Carpenter reports primarily to the Superintendent and Lead Carpenter and provides effective leadership over assistant carpenters and laborers. At times, Carpenters may be required to fill the Lead Carpenters duties when they are unavailable. Carpenters MUST have a great attitude and be able to communicate effectively with all team members, subcontractors and clients.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Carpentry:
Perform carpentry labor and assign tasks to assistant carpenters and helpers as instructed by Superintendent or Lead Carpenter. Verify completion of tasks to the satisfaction of client and company standards.
Maintain a high standard of quality in a wide variety of carpentry-related tasks.
Ensure work being performed is done in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, without compromising quality.
Anticipate ongoing needed materials, supplies, and drawings at least 1-3 days in advance and communicate to Lead Carpenter.
Ensure Lead Carpenter or Supervisor is made aware of any necessary change orders or client requests. Limit Scope creep.
Assist Lead Carpenter in the goal of achieving a zero punch-list job.
During rain periods, report to the job site to cover the exposed area of the house with a tarp/plastic cover; minimizing any possibility of water entering the home.
On rare occasions, must be available to come in after hours to address emergency plumbing, electrical, or water issues.
Communication:
Communicate any variation from the daily plan (hours, materials, scope) to the lead carpenter.
Communicate regularly with the Lead Carpenter and Superintendent to ensure the project is on time and on budget.
Engage with our clients in a way that reflects highly upon yourself and the company. Ensure the lead carpenter or superintendent is aware of any requests or questions from the client.
Actively participate in weekly or bi-weekly production meetings with all team members.
Accountability:
Be present on time (5 minutes early) each day. Begin setting up the job site immediately.
Accurately enter timesheets, receipts, and job logs/photos in the project management software on a daily basis. This is critical for accurate job tracking.
Leave the job neat and clean on a daily basis.
Ensure equipment is stored in trailers or another secure location.
Safety/Maintenance
Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Maintain assigned and shared equipment in good working order. Repair when necessary or alert supervisor if the equipment is missing or in need of repair beyond normal maintenance.
Alert Supervisor as soon as vehicle maintenance is required or issues arise. Perform basic maintenance on a bi-weekly basis (check fluids, tires, etc.)

Must be able to pass a pre-hire physical assessment based on the jobs physical requirements.
The carpenter position requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, to stand for long periods of time, to work in outdoor environments, to lift, carry, pull and operate heavy objects and equipment.
